In this season of mists and mellow fruitfulness – we will be wearing leopard print

My love of leopard print is well documented – see Bet Lynch Eat Your Heart Out So it was music to my ears when I heard that animal print was the big trend for AW18. And you won’t have to look far to find it.

Not everyone is a fan – something about the colour I suspect – but this season has the answer with colourful takes on the traditional brown. Red works particularly well.  I love this handkerchief hem skirt from Mint Velvet and can see it taking a plain black sweater and boots combo up a notch or two effortlessly. Rixo London can do no wrong in the print stakes and this gorgeous version of their Moss blouse is no exception.

Hobbs wouldn’t usually be my first port of call for leopard print – that honour would go to Zara. But this dress really caught my eye. Tie belts can be tricky – they don’t always stay tied for starters – but I’m sure I have a black patent one lurking somewhere in my wardrobe that could replace it. And this oversized scarf would elevate a plain black coat big time on winter mornings – just be careful not to get lost in it!

If you’re at the been there, done that stage with leopard print look no further than Zara for a new take on snake print. This fabulous jacket  channels Joan Collins in her Dynasty heyday. Likewise the blouse, minus the padded shoulders of the time. But if you’re craving adventure, a backless, frontless and zebra print number from Top Shop, might get the party started!

If you still wouldn’t be seen dead in animal print please don’t use it as an excuse to wear black head to toe. Vivid colours abound with purple and green taking centre stage amongst flashes of fuchsia and the ever present black.

And if you buy just one thing to give your wardrobe a lift – make it one of these things.

Give boring black trousers a new lease of life with these statement boots from Topshop. They’re only £36 for heavens sake. Do it your way in this knockout Biba dress. Or go for broke with this timeless Ganni blouse.

And if you do buy just one thing I salute you. My wish list, as ever, is a long one!
