Shopping the Sales

OK. So I’m all for shopping my wardrobe but when the sales arrive I’m there with the best of them. I take a systematic approach, targeting items I’ve had my eye on and focusing on the brands I love most.

Fenwicks is my starting point for sale shopping. In fact – it’s my starting point for most shopping! Favourite brands like Whistles and Reiss sit alongside newer ones like Rixo and Ganni. Meaningful reductions. And the best changing rooms in Newcastle. My love of animal print meant these skirts were a must try ..

But not a must buy. Though I reserve the right to reconsider if the price drops again.

Tested out my selfie skills with a pic of this green dress. Believe me the double mirror bit took some working out.

Whistles dress – not in sale

Liked the sleeves andĀ  bow at the back and was halfway to the till before I realised it wasn’t in the sale. Not too sure when I’d wear it either so it’s on the back burner for now.

This Paul Smith jacket and Hugo Boss dress both had real hanger appeal but, sadly, it didn’t translate into real life.

With Fenwicks ticked off the list I moved on to another favouriteĀ  – Jules B. They have a brilliant website but luckily I live around the corner from their Jesmond store so I’m a frequent visitor. They stock fabulous brands like Diane von Furstenberg, Paper London and Alice & Olivia and it certainly brings me joy that they’re on my doorstep. This Rixo dress had been calling my name for months so when I saw it on the sale rail I snapped it up!

Fulfilling my need for floral

A foray into the sales wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Zara. It gets messy – with clothes clinging onto hangers for dear life by lunchtime. But there are always bargains to be had.

It coincided with a visit from my sister so we tore ourselves away from midsummer in the garden and braved a couple of hours at the MetroCentre. There were pleated skirts in abundance, a lot of yellow and I loved this cute shirt.

But nothing quite hit the spot and I came away empty handed. I returned to my favourite place outside feeling almost virtuous

Oops. So much for feeling virtuous. I’ve just rememberedĀ  that we passed Schuh on the way to Zara and bought new Birkenstocks.

Black with a touch of sparkle

There goes my halo!
