Welcome to the Style Council where real people reveal what they buy with their own hard earned cash!
With temperatures dropping and snow already on the ground the Style Council talk “must have” winter beauty products …
Love my age, love my life but wish I could find a magic potion for my petulant skin. One day, when I’m least expecting it, I’m sure it will appear …
This winter I’m going to try and keep it simple. I love the Tropic range and I’m using a combo of their Super Greens nutrient boost oil and their Skin Feast moisturiser. Oh … and the new Oud and Bergamot dry body oil from Jo Malone is to die for. My new favourite smell!
Not pierced, tattooed or dyed. I brush up well. Hate underwear shopping. Love blusher.
My winter pick is the multi tasking miracle, Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream. Yep, the one developed as horse linament. This has been my go-to product for 20 years. For dry skin, chapped lips, odd spots, sore patches. You name it, I’ve put this on it. After a Christmas night out, this is what I am slapping on my face before bedtime.
Mid fifties and like to look my best but without it costing the earth, in every sense.
Favourite winter products for the face are Neal’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm and Burt’s Bees pomegranate lip balm. Organic coconut oil (the same stuff you cook with) smoothed on straight from the shower while your skin is damp is amazing for the body. Makes your skin lovely and soft, doesn’t smell coconutty for long. Great value and free from nasties!
A 49 year old 30 something trying to hold back the years by bulk buying every beauty secret in sight.
I’m a big fan of Clarins all year round, especially their face wash. But when winter kicks in I roll out the big guns with Elemis Body Oil and L’Occitane hand cream to add heavy duty moisture and hydration to my dry skin.
Looking forward to indulging myself now my sons are grown up, starting with festivals and face cream.
As my summer tan fades I switch my foundation to a paler shade. Ditto for my nail polish. And to help combat the effects of the North Sea winds on my lips from dog walking on the beach Vaseline Lip Therapy is the ultimate budget buy.
Lifelong lover of all things beauty, who could have travelled the world on the proceeds of this obsession – but totally fine I didn’t!
It’s a hi – lo mix from me. Hyalu B5, an amazing serum from La Roche Posay for my face and Palmers Cocoa Butter Balm – £4 for a big tub – everywhere else. And when I’m in an indulgent mood – Elemis Exotic Frangipani Manoi oil for a luxurious treat.
