View from the Changing Room – Selfridges

A trip to London is not complete without a few hours in Selfridges in my book. And earlier this summer when it was 80 degrees on Oxford Street it’s hallowed, air conditioned halls were more welcoming than ever. The sales were well underway and I was on a mission to find a dress. For no other reason than I wanted a new dress – no big occasion – just a dress – for wearing. And if it was a brand I couldn’t find in Newcastle all the better. I know everything is available everywhere online but I love shopping – in real shops – so I like to do my bit to help them survive!

Style Stuff philosophy – if you’re going to the bother of trying things on – try lots on – even some unlikely things like the dress on the right here – you just never know.

Style Stuff Verdict – from left to right below

V neck dress from Maje – Better than it looks on the hanger but not mad on the colour.
Print dress from Maje – Thought this would be “the one” but looked a bit matronly somehow – not the look I’m going for.
Red dress, from Maje – Loved this and almost went for it. Walked away on the basis that I enjoy nights in more than nights out but slightly regretting it now.
Navy print dress from Ganni – Nice but unremarkable for the price tag.

The sharp eyed amongst you may have noticed I haven’t included the green one. That’s because I wanted a closer look from different angles so I went in search of a changing room with a better back mirror.

Style Stuff Verdict – great fit, love the length and what a colour – truly fabulous.

So I bought it. Another shopping mission accomplished.

PS Could hardly contain my excitement when the very same green dress was featured in Editors’ Picks in last week’s Stella mag. Easily excited clearly.
