What? No shopping! 35 days and counting …

My 90 day “no shopping” challenge is – well – challenging. As I knew it would be. The rational part of me is saying I’m more than a third of the way through. The rest of me responds with “OMG how am I going to do this?” ( see original post here http://stylestuff.co.uk/what-no-shopping/ )

I kicked things off with a Marie Kondo style wardrobe clear out and said a fond farewell to 55 items. Just one word. Zen.

Determined to break the habit of wearing the same 5 outfits, in my case black dresses, in rotation I set about the serious task of #shoppingmywardrobe. Particularly anything still with the tag on it. And it’s worked – giving me the chance to up my insta game too. After all one black dress looks pretty much like another.

Not to mention all those forgotten things of beauty lurking at the back of the wardrobe …

And the big one …

I don’t pretend to have too much in common with Kate Moss, though I believe she drinks green tea these days. But when I saw a pic of her in this Jaeger blouse twelve years ago I tracked it down. No easy task pre online shopping! And there it was, squashed between tons of other stuff in my wardrobe, just waiting to be rediscovered!

My commute along the A69 is tough in the winter and I have not been even remotely tempted to take a detour to Zara at the MetroCentre on the way home. Their website though is another story. I can type zara.com with my eyes closed and the urge to browse the new arrivals has been strong.

My perfect Saturday includes checking out what’s going on at Fenwicks. And it usually results in a purchase. Two weeks into January I realised I would never wear the dress I’d bought in their sale. If I wanted a refund I needed to return it – sharpish. A battle with my conscience followed. I’d bought the dress before the start of my 90 day challenge. Did that mean I could buy something else to replace it? Big question. My answer on the day was a firm “no” but I reserve the right to change my mind!

I’ll keep you posted …

You are a braver woman than I!
Though, I did carry out my own wardrobe clearout late last year. Having had a baby, I took it as prine time to sort it out. The fact I have literally half a wardrobe full of hangers makes me happy… but also a little concerned as I always still seem to have one full wardrobe of clothes. It was productive, honest!
I love the outfits you’ve put together and your finds! That Kate Moss blouse is gorgeous!

Thanks Caroline. The shopping my wardrobe bit is great fun. Not browsing Zara’s website is much tougher! Sue x
